The high-power laser diode driver LDY-1500 is a series of devices. They are primarily intended for pumping medical fiber lasers, first of all TFL (Thulium fiber laser). The LDY diode driver was designed to provide current by pulses or in continuous form to pump laser diodes, diode bars and stacks.
CW output power up to 2000 W, peak output power up to 5 kW and more, fast rise and fall times (< 150 us for some models), high repetition rates (up to 2 kHz) and availability of modifications with high output voltages (for serial connection of multiple diode modules) are the main features of the series.
We offer several variants of LDY-1500 with different maximum output current (Imax up to 250 A), maximum output voltage (Vmax up to 200 V), selected at the moment of order.
Devices are in a case and easy to mount, they run on common 100‑240 V AC or 200‑240 V AC 50/60 Hz. So you don’t need any extra power supply for the driver.
An output current level can be programmed in working range by user applying a DC voltage to the respective pin. An operating frequency and pulse width are set by an external low voltage TTL signal from a pulse generator. Base interface to control LDY is analogue (15 Pin “D”-Sub Female).
It is also possible to control the module through an additional external remote control assembly LDD-RC (sold separately), or through an additional external PCBs (should be purchased separately), either stand-alone (ordering code – STA) with jumpers and trimpot or driven by a computer through RS‑232 interface (ordering code – RS232).
Full compliance with IEC 60601-1 (leakage currents, insulation, and protection) and IEC 60601-1-2 (conducted and radiated EMI) allows the modules to be used in medical systems without additional safety measures. At the same time for proven compliance to standards for a certain modification the certification procedure needs to be passed. This is possible on demand.

- We recommend to pick Imax and Vmax values as close as possible to your diode’s operating сurrent and voltage in order to utilize completely the output power of the device and to ensure it’s optimal performance.
- The product of Imax and Vmax can exceed Pmax and, in dependence on model, can achieve 5000 W and more.
- Drivers with Pmax up to 1000 W can have wide range AC input (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), drivers with Pmax 1000-2000 W can have only 200-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz input.
- Since the maximum pulse width and pulse repetition rate depend on virtually every parameter above (input voltage, Imax, Vmax) we recommend discussing your needs with the manufacturer at the moment of ordering.
