The NBU-1312 discharge circuit is designed to simplify the development of solid-state laser systems. The module forms quasi-rectangular pulses on a flashlamp (using energy stored in an external capacitor bank) and provides simmer current during the intervals between pulses. By default, the NBU-1312 includes capabilities both for series and external triggering.
The NBU-1312 is the most powerful discharge circuit offered by OEM Tech. With a maximum average power of 4 kW and a maximum output voltage of 1300 V, it is intended for driving two flashlamps connected in series in high-power Nd:YAG and Alexandrite aesthetic laser systems. An important feature of the NBU-1312 is the clear and visible separation between the low-voltage and high-voltage parts. The 24 V power input and all interface circuits (SIM and PWF) are separated from the high-voltage circuits by a 4 mm creepage distance and solid insulation to 2500 VAC test voltage.
The flashlamp operating frequency and pulse duration can be varied using a +5 V TTL signal from an external control device sent to the respective pin.
The module includes an IGBT with its driver, protective circuits, simmer and trigger circuits, discharge resistors and control electronics. It also contains a fan for active cooling.
It’s important to emphasize that the discharge circuit NBU-1312 is not a stand-alone solution. For proper operation it requires a capacitor charging power supply and capacitor bank, an external control device to form the pulses, an external +24 V DC power supply, as well as some minor parts (see also the picture below).
We have also less-power serial model NBU-1112 discharge circuit, up to 1300 V, 2 kW power output.
