The PCP-17 capacitor charging power supply module is a high-frequency switch-mode modern and effective AC/DC converter. It transforms DC input or rectified mains (external rectifier is needed) to regulated high voltage DC output to charge capacitors. It was developed for the use in pumping systems of flashlamp-pumped solid-state laser devices in industrial and laboratory applications. However, relatively low power factor correction (PFC) value of 0.9 is insufficient for using the device in medical equipment.
The output power is greater than 1750 W for modifications with partial discharge (PD) and greater than 1500 J/s for modifications with complete discharge (CD). The maximum output voltage is customer defined at the moment of order in range from 300 V up to 4000 V. During operation an output voltage level in the working range (0 V – Vmax) can be selected by user by applying a DC voltage to the corresponding pin.
The actual output power depends on relation between the actual operating voltage and the Vmax. We would recommend to pick Vmax as close as possible to your operating voltage in order to utilize completely the output power of the device.
The efficiency of the PCP-17 capacitor charging power supply is over 85% at maximum output voltage.
PCP-17 is the most popular capacitor charger from PCP-line. High reliability and efficiency, easy to integrate OEM design and a lot of flexible parameters for customized solutions allows PCP-17 to be used in wide variety of industrial and laboratory applications. The module is suitable to operate in parallel with two or more devices.

300VDC input (rectified 200-240VAC):
PCP-17-XXXX-YY-Z, where:
- XXXX means the maximum output voltage VMAX – user selectable in range of 300 V to 4000 V
- YY means discharge type modification – CD for complete discharge modification, PD for partial discharge modification; if YY is not specified, the PD modification will be supplied
- Z means output polarity – P for positive, N for negative, F for floating output, B for bipolar output.
If Z parameter is missed, positive output polarity (P) modification will be supplied.

110-240VAC input:
For 110-240VAC wide range input one can consider:
- Standard versions of PCA-10 or PCA-20 (please just refer to PCA-10 and PCA-20 user manuals for the details).
- A tailored version of PCA-20 with the following customizations:
- high voltage modifications up to 4000V
- positive, negative, floating, bipolar output
Please note, the mentioned modifications, unlike standard versions of PCA-20 product, are not recommended for use in medical or aesthetic systems.
