IGBT- and thyristor-based discharge circuits
We offer several discharge circuits on a base of IGBTs or thyristors. Discharge circuits form pulses on a flashlamp using energy stored in either external or integrated capacitors bank – typically only a portion of the stored energy is used, i.e. partial discharge method. They also supply simmer current during the intervals between pulses.
Our most popular models, suitable for a wide range of applications, are IGBT-based discharge circuits NBU-1012, NBU-1112 and NBU-1312. These modules produce quasi-rectangular output pulses.
The newer NBU-1112 model is similar to the older NBU-1012, but it differs slightly in size, uses more advanced technology. It is also better suited for certification.
The NBU-1312 is the most powerful discharge circuit developed by OEM Tech. With a maximum average power of 4 kW and a maximum output voltage of 1300 V, it is designed to drive two flashlamps connected in series in high-power Nd:YAG and Alexandrite aesthetic laser systems.
Thyristor-based discharge circuits NBU-1508 generate bell-shaped pulses through complete discharge of a relatively small capacitor bank (~100 uF). Typical applications are Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers or similar systems.
For high-power IPL and long-pulsed Nd:YAG, KTP, Alexandrite laser systems, we offer the NBD-0505-PWM discharge circuit featuring PWM (pulse-width modulation) technology. This module produces true- or quasi-rectangular pulses on a flashlamp.
By default, the NBU-1112, NBU-1312, NBU-1012 and NBU-1508 include capabilities both for series and external triggering.
