A simmer supply is a device that strikes and maintains low-current discharge in a flashlamp. This allows to increase its lifetime and operation stability.
The SCA-3008 is powered from 200-240 V AC mains. It includes all the necessary circuits not only for maintaining of low-current discharge, but also for simmer ignition as well: a built-in gas discharger for production of high-voltage and high-energy trigger pulse and an auxiliary 1500 V open-circuit voltage supply. An ignition transformer is not included in the SCA-3008 and sold separately.
The SCA-3008 is a powerful device, able to drive up to two typical flashlamps connected in series (please read user manual for the details how to organize simmer triggering in that case). The module is cooled with an integrated fan. In case of current interruption, the automatic simmer ignition will restrike with approximately 3 Hz repetition rate, until the discharge is restored.
The simmer supply can be used in laser systems either with series or external triggering without any changes.
The simmer current value for the SCA-3008 is selected when ordering. In normal circumstances, it is not possible for the user to adjust the simmer current themselves.
